Behold BHLDN

BHLDN is a new store rooted from one of my favorite stores, Anthropologie. Wedding gowns, hair accessories, shoes, and much more can be found at this adorably charming online store. The attention to detail inspires me and the gorgeous gowns make me want to be a bride again
(of course, to the same groom!).

Here is a fraction of the beautiful items they have...

Mad Throwbacks

The television show "Mad Men" isn't new but it's new to me!
A few weeks ago I started from season one, episode one and I'm fascinated by this show. The 60's fashion and decor are great
(but I can't say the same about the sexism and misogny).

I'm repeatedly shocked by two things in this show:
1) Smoking - they smoke constantly.
2) Alcohol - at work, at home, all the time.
I'm only in the first season so I have a lot more to learn
but these are my favorite characters so far...

Betty is always "so put together" and oh so pretty!

Peggy is the secretary and I haven't figured her out yet...
I have figured out that her bangs are dreadful!

Don Draper.
The ultimate gentleman who is really not a gentleman.
But, I like his hat.

Joan. My favorite.

Denim Details

Over the holidays my sister, Megan, and I went on a denim-finding excursion. You see, my sister is a recent blue jean connoisseur. She found that certain types of jeans can transform your booty and upgrade your style. Megan was determined to 'show me the light' of good jeans and what they can do for my derriere because that's just what sisters do, right?

After shopping for at least two hours and trying on at least thirty pairs of jeans, I had to admit that I wasn't meant to find "THE" pair of jeans that day. The blue dye in the jeans had stained my fingernails. I took that as a sign that we had tried our best but I had to throw in the towel.

Today, while browsing through the Gap, I decided to try on a pair of Gap straight jeans in a dark wash. They fit like a glove and, I must add, were much less expensive than the brands Megan led me to. I'm not saying that her favorite brands are not good - perhaps I am lucky to find "THE" pair in a cheaper brand! For the ladies who are looking to 'get your jean on', here are some suggested brands. Happy shopping!

Happy New Year!

It's funny how a glowing Christmas tree
can make you so happy!
Here is a photo of our tree...
I don't want to take it down...
I spent the holidays with my family enjoying
lots of fun and food.
Holidays with kids are so much fun!
I managed to buy myself a little Christmas gift.
I couldn't pass up these sparkling, sassy shoes.
I wore them last night for NYE and, luckily, didn't break an ankle!
Brody's first Christmas was wonderful!
He got tons of presents and tons of attention.
I hope you enjoyed the holidays as well!

Tinsel (not) On Your Tree

As I was sitting in my hair salon over the weekend, I noticed that a new trend had hit the hair-world. This trend is hair tinsel. If you have watched The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (and, like me, you won't ever admit it!), then you've seen these sparkling strands. Apparently, hair tinsel is all the rage now because of this television show.

For around $5.00 you can get one strand of tinsel knotted to one tiny strand of your hair. The tinsel is supposed to withstand styling, shampooing, etc. and it comes in any color. I think I will pass on the tinsel trend but at least I now know what it's all about!

Pretty Ponytails

After a long holiday weekend, Monday at work can be brutal.
In an attempt to look somewhat put-together,
a chic and smooth ponytail may be your best bet.

Tip: Use hairspray on a toothbrush to
manage fly-aways for a smooth (and chic) ponytail.

Baby It's (getting) Cold Outside

The temps are dropping and I'm a weakling!
I'd love a warm, puffy coat like this one.

A Little Bling

Like most girls, I really love jewelry.
A local jewelry-maker is producing some really pretty pieces
so I wanted to spread the word.
Luckily, she has an Etsy store which means anyone can buy her items online.
Visit her store, "Made by Maggie" here.

High Definition Love

I am very picky in regards to makeup but...
I went out on a limb, tried something new and it's fantastic!
Friends, sisters, moms, aunts, and divas listen up!
If you're looking for new foundation, look no further...
you have my word.

Rug Rats

Although I don't have any rug rats of my own, I like to peek into Gap Kids every now and then to see if I there are any "must-haves" for my nieces and nephew. There always ARE but I am too tight to spend the cash. You see, I never like the inexpensive items, I'm always drawn to the $60 outfits. For children that are not my own, I cannot drop that kind of cash on a whim. Sorry kiddos!

On my latest tour of Gap Kids, I was a little envious of some of their cool clothes...

Zebra print dress...I'd wear this!

How cute would this penguin dress be with hot pink tights?
Love it. Love it.

Little boy + skull sweater = Too Stinkin' Cute!

Temptation

I seldom visit Sephora without being tempted to drop loads of cash on makeup. It's hard to resist the luxurious cream blushes, the billions of eye shadows, not to mention the bronzers, highlighters and other items that try to jump into my hands while I'm browsing. After much deliberation, I ultimately resisted the Nars "Beauty in a Box" and it was really, really hard to resist. I'm still thinking about it...isn't it nice?

A Do or a Don't

These glitter tights are really funky and would be fun to wear on a night out...

Leopard Print tights...
I don't know if these are really cool or really creepy.
They remind me of the musical "Cats"!
Would you wear these (on a night other than Halloween)?

I love these patterned tights - I think I might have to buy them!
